URGENT MESSAGE – To all attending the 2012 MAR RC

URGENT MESSAGE – To all MAR FRC Teams attending the 2012 MAR FRC District Championship:

After five very successful MAR FRC District events, the very first MAR FRC District Championship is here!

Here’s to all teams’ success . . . remember SAFETY FIRST!  Be safe in all your travels!!

This email will mainly cover Parking related to our Week #7 MAR FRC event in the Liacouras Center – 1776 North Broad Street – Temple University – Philadelphia PA.  Any update to the below will follow tomorrow . . .

For all parking in the Garage behind the Liacouras Center and that handles parking for the Liacouras Center please note that daily parking is $14.

Please click on to the map as it will help you, your team, bus drivers, guests and all attending to support and cheer for your team:

#1. Buses should deliver and drop off teams in front of the Liacouras Center on North Broad Street – buses traveling North on Broad Street will have to drive past the Center and use city streets to turn around to be in the South Bound lanes on North Broad Street as to be able to stop right in front of the Liacouras Center.

#2. Parking on campus for our event is a concern as classes are in session and there are a number of special events on campus during our three-day competition.  Parking Services tells us that Thursday should not be a problem, Friday could be a problem, and Saturday could also present a challenge – though our event starts well before the other events scheduled on Saturday.

#3. The first parking area all vehicles – except buses – should look to access is “The Parking Garage at the Liacouras Center” – 15th Street and Montgomery Avenue. With most participants needing to arrive by 8-9 AM each day, it is our hope that such early access to the Garage will ensure that adequate parking will be available.  In addition to the arrows on the map that can get one to the Garage, vehicles traveling North on North Broad Street can turn left onto Ceceil B. Moore Avenue and make a right on 16th Street, and then a right onto Montgomery Avenue to 15th Street and the Entrance to the Parking Garage.  Again, parking will cost $14 a day.

#4. If ”The Parking Garage at the Liacouras Center” is full, using the map . . . vehicles should look to find parking in Lots #8 and #9 and at the Temple Towers – all on/off Cecil B. Moore Avenue SOUTH of North Broad Street.  These parking areas will also charge a $14 fee per day.

#5. As with last year, a limited number of school buses, vans and trucks with trailers to transport robots will be accomdated by parking in Lots #8 and #9 on Ceceil B. Moore Avenue – east of the Liacouras Center.  MAR will assume the charges for this parking on a daily basis.  We encourage all teams that commute from a reasonable distance from Philadelphia to have your bus or van drop off the team and return to your school district each day and then return later in the day to transport your team back to your school district.

#5. All teams . . . in unloading/loading your Pit Area equipment, tools, setup/display you should access the Liacouras Center Loading Dock that is down a ramp that is located to the left of the LEFT on the MAIN Entrance to the Center on North Broad Street when facing the Center.  The Loading Dock is on the same level as the Pit Area and the FRC Field.

#6. The AGENDA for our three day event is at

#7. A list of the 51 teams competing (seeking to roster 54 in total) as of 4/8/12 is at

http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/regional-events?id=430

#8. The deadline to pre-order lunches for teams is today!  There will be food concessions open at the Liacouras Center with prices at such a sports complex at the level you might expect.  NO FOOD or WATER can be brought into the venue . . . all backpacks, bags, etc. will be checked upon entering the Center.

#9. The preferred entrance to the Liacouras Center will be the Main Entrance on North Broad Street.  NOTE: the five members of each team who will be allowed entrance on Thursday, April 7th, at 7:45 AM to uncrate the team’s robot will only gain access to the Pit Area through the Main Entrance of the Center on North Broad Street.

#10. Please offer the thanks and gratitude from all involved in the Philadelphia FRC to each of your team sponsors.  The attached link lists the Sponsors for the 2011 Philadelphia FIRST Robotics Competition -

and several of these MAR FRC sponsors are also team sponsors and we are truly grateful to each sponsor for their generous support of our FRC programming and event.

Remember to bring your Gracious Professionalism with you as always!  Best wishes to all!
